While shopping at Bed, Bath & Beyond for a few kitchen items, I stopped dead in my tracks when I saw this. And my niece said “you’re getting your camera out, aren’t you?” Of course I was! What I was seeing was a plastic cutting board that carried a brand called Eco-Kitchen.
While I absolutely believe we need to look for more eco-friendly sources, I have to say I wasn’t too sure about this plastic cutting board that said it was. But it seems maybe there are some possiblities. And the people that wrote the copy are fairly witty!
Among the ways this product marks its environmental profile were the following:
- 100% Recycled Food Grade Plastic — Who wouldn’t want to save the 60+ plastic containers from landfills by purchasing just THIS one cutting board?
- Agricultural By-product — Product contains flax husk – typically discarded post processing. Its like nature in your cutting board!
- Made in USA — Product is 100% designed and manufactured in the United States of America. Woo-hoo JOBS!
I love the wording on the product packaging but also think the uniqueness of an eco-friendly product should grab attention! And my attention is grabbed I have been known to let out a woo hoo or two.
What do you think?

Those Flax farmers are so clever! I wonder how they make it not bio-degrade like corn-plastic products do…..
