Last weekend while I was traveling for the National FFA meeting and the Agronomy, Crop & Soil Science meeting, somehow I pulled something. I’m not sure how I did it but my shoulder just felt a bit off. I spent time in a hot shower stretching. I would stretch, lift some light weights, etc.
And I thought about whether I should find a masseuse or not. But I was too busy. Well, I felt like I was too busy but I am sure I could have found time to do it if I made it a priority. Well, today when I left the office, I realized I still was sort of pulling it. Rather than think about what all I needed to do, I went straight to a massage storefront and asked if they could fit me in AND THEY COULD!
All I can think tonight is how thankful I was for the woman who spent an hour with a lot of the time focused on getting that single shoulder-blade in shape. She worked on it slowly, patiently, sometimes pulling my arm out a different direction as she pushed on the muscle this way and that, elongating it, keeping it warm, relaxing it and then stretching it again. Asking is the pressure good? Do I need it harder or is it too hard?
So as I got home to eat some dinner knowing I needed to sit down and write a post, all I could think of is whether I had a photo of a massage on my harddrive. I immediately thought of various trips for a massage during my travels… but this photo from my trip to The Philippines several years ago. I push myself hard a lot of the time, but being able to spoil myself a little and actually taking time to do it, makes it all worth it.
So on the seventh day of my 30 days of thanks, I am thankful that I have that luxury of being able to spoil myself a bit. I feel certain I will wake up easier tomorrow and although I may still need to do a little work on my shoulder, I know that masseuse made me get much further along and wow did she help me relax!
I remember going to the spa with a friend who had never had a massage once. She was worried she wouldn’t be able to relax with a stranger touching her. She gave in so easily! Have you ever gotten a massage? I’ve enjoyed them in quite a few countries! So far, Thailand was my favorite!

Last week I mentioned a few friends doing some great blogging series. You should check through all of them! But I missed one of my St. Louis blogging friends — Roshini Cope of Glamazini.com who decided to join me in doing a 30 days of thanks series too! She’s rockin’ the series. So be sure you check it out.

I’ve never had a massage but it sure sounds lovely. One of my greatest indulgences was a facial a long time ago and boy did I enjoy it. I haven’t had one since… Maybe, I’ll fit it in sometime soon. 🙂
